Q.1 How is Khairul Ummah different from other schools?
Ans. We prepare our students for both the worlds by giving them the knowledge and practicality needed in everyday life but at the same time, never compromising the religious aspects that are essential in creating a wholesome and fulfilling lifestyle.
Q.2 What is the minimum age for admission?
Ans. The minimum age for admission is 4 years old.
Q.3 Do you take special needs students at your school?
Ans. We do have an IEP class (Individualized Education Program), however, each admission will be considered on an individual basis.
Q.4 Is there a full-time hifz class operating at the school?
Ans. Yes, we offer the full-time Hifz class program
Q.5 Do you offer the Alimah program?
Ans. At the moment, we have a compulsory Alimah class running for students grade 6 and above. Also, females who wish to enroll only in the Alimah class may also do so. The fees for Alimah class alone is $75/month.
Q.6 What subjects are offered in the Alimah program?
Ans. The Alimah program is from the introductory year till the Bukhari year. Students are taught the languages of Urdu and Arabic, Islamic history, Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), Tafseer (exegesis), and Ahaadith (Prophetic narrations).
Q.7 Which curriculum is taught in the academic section?
Ans. All the Ummati Schools in Ontario follow the curriculum guidelines provided by the Ministry of Education for each grade.
Q.8 Is transportation provided?
Ans. At the moment, we offer transportation at a minimal cost for only the Flemingdon and Thorncliffe Park areas.
Q.9 Does the school offer physical activities?
Ans. Yes, physical activities are an important part of our curriculum. We have a playground and an indoor gym where students engage in a variety of physical activities under the supervision of their teachers.
Q.10 Is there an Islamic curriculum alongside the academic studies for those students who are not in the Alimah class?
Ans. Yes, two hours are dedicated each day towards Islamic studies, where students are taught to recite the Holy Qur’an, memorize Duas and Surahs, are taught Islamic beliefs, rulings with regards to purification, worship, social life, manners and morals, history, and Seerah.
Q.11 What are the timings for the school?
Ans. Office hours are from 9:00 a.m to 12:00 p.m and 1:00 p.m to 2:30 p.m. If parents require any documents from the school, a 48-hour notice is required in advance. Also, if parents wish to meet with a teacher or the principal, a prior appointment is required.
Q.12 What are the office hours?
Ans. The current elementary school timing is from 8:15 a.m to 2:30 p.m. The school timing for girls from Gr. 6 – Gr. 10 only is 8:30 a.m to 3:45 p.m.
